On March 28th 2019, Palo Alto Networks announced a complete acquisition of Demisto.
The acquisition of the leading cybersecurity company, Demisto, by the global cybersecurity leader, Palo Alto, accelerates and further advances Palo Alto Networks Cortex™ AI-based continuous security platform strategy and the company’s ability to deliver threat prevention that is automated along with a quick response for security teams.
Previously, Palo Alto had given out a statement explaining the need for this acquisition saying that with the addition of Demisto’s orchestration and automation technologies, Palo Alto Networks Application Framework strategy will be accelerated and will serve as a vital step forward in delivering immediate threat prevention and response from their security teams.
Nikesh Arora the CEO of Palo Alto Networks further continued that with this combination along with their existing threat prevention and response capabilities, Palo Alto will become well-positioned to unlock the biggest challenges that are facing teams in security operations centers today.
Nikesh also mentioned their excitement over welcoming Demisto to Palo Alto Networks. He said that while Demisto products continue to be accessible to customers and partners, the addition of Demisto into Cortex will enable a stronger automation and artificial intelligence capabilities to the Palo Alto platform, delivering greater protection across all environments.
Through a combination of security orchestration and automation, incident management, and interactive investigation, Demisto helps customers best leverage their security tools and talent. By making Demisto’s security orchestration and automation capabilities immediately available to customers, Palo Alto Networks will build on the benefits Cortex brings to the SOC environment.
Demisto brings more than technology to the platform. It also brings its 150 customers, a quarter of which are in the Fortune 500. Before being acquired, Demisto had raised $69 million from Stewart McClure, Greylock, Accel and others. Paying approximately $560 million in cash and stock, Palo Alto Networks acquired Demisto.
