Google Chrome gets smarter with AI-powered features
Google Chrome, the world’s most popular web browser, is getting a major upgrade with three new AI-powered features designed to make your browsing experience easier, safer, and more personalized. These features, currently in beta, are set to roll out in the US over the next few days, with other regions following soon.
1. Taming Tab Chaos with AI-powered Grouping:
Ever feel overwhelmed by a multitude of open tabs? Chrome’s new tab grouping feature comes to the rescue. Using AI, the browser automatically suggests and creates groups based on the content of your open tabs. This way, you can easily switch between research projects, shopping sprees, or travel plans without getting lost in a sea of tabs.
To activate this feature, simply click the three dots in the upper right corner of Chrome and select “Settings.” Then, navigate to “Experimental AI” and toggle on “Tab Groups.” Once enabled, you’ll see a drop-down menu next to each tab with options to “Organize related tabs” or “Create group.”
2. Unleash Your Inner Designer with AI-Generated Themes:
Remember those stunning AI-generated wallpapers on the Pixel 8? Chrome is bringing that same magic to your browsing experience with generative AI themes. Choose your preferred color scheme, mood, and visual style, and Chrome’s AI will whip up a custom theme that reflects your personality.
To access this feature, head to the “Customize Chrome” side panel, click “Change Theme,” and then “Create with AI.” Experiment with different keywords and let the AI surprise you with unique and artistic themes.
3. Write Like a Pro with AI Assistance:
Whether you’re crafting a social media post, composing an email, or leaving an online review, Chrome’s “Help Me Write” feature can lend a helping hand. This AI-powered tool analyzes the context of the webpage you’re on and suggests relevant phrases, sentence starters, and even entire paragraphs to help you express yourself clearly and concisely.
Accessing the New Features:
To activate this feature, simply right-click on any text box on a webpage and select “Help me write.” A pop-up window will appear with suggestions based on the surrounding text. You can choose to accept the suggestions, edit them, or write your own text.
These are just a glimpse of the exciting possibilities that AI brings to web browsing. With Google Chrome’s new features, you can expect a more organized, personalized, and productive online experience. So, keep an eye out for the update and get ready to explore the web in a whole new way!
It is noteworthy that these features are currently in beta and may not be available to all users. They are also not available for Enterprise and Education accounts.
