Instagram DMs Get Powers Up with New Features!
Dated 11th March’24, New Jersey: Now some good news for Instagram users who type all the time! Introducing new functionalities to make chatting with your friends even more delightful and effortless. The app is rolling out several new features to make your messaging experience smoother and more fun. Here’s what you can look forward to:
Fix typos! Edit messages:
Did you send a message with a typo? No worries! Now you can edit messages sent to someone after sending them.
You can edit messages you sent within the last 15 minutes! Here’s how:
- Find the message: Open the conversation and tap and hold on the message you want to change.
- Edit it up: A menu will pop up. Tap “Edit” and make your changes directly in the message box.
- Send the update: Once you’re happy with the revised message, just tap “Send” again to update it in the chat.
Remember: The “Edit” option only appears for messages you send within the last 15 minutes.
Pin your faves! Prioritize chats:
Quickly pin the three most recent important conversations (group or individual) and let them sit at the top of your inbox.
Privacy control! Toggle read receipts:
Decide whether you want to show people that you’ve read their messages or keep it secret. You can choose the control for all or individual chat rooms.
Here’s how to turn read receipts on or off for all your Instagram chats:
1. Head to your account settings.
2. Tap “Messages and story replies.”
3. Find “Show read receipts” and toggle it on/off.
Express yourself! Save favorite stickers:
Find your favorite stickers easier by saving them conveniently for future use.
Liven it up! Upgrade your replies:
Include stickers, gifs, videos, photos and voice notes in the reply to create a more interactive chat experience.
Set the mood! Personalize with themes:
Among themes like “Love” or “Lollipop” you will find something suitable for your conversations.
The goal of these updates is to bring more convenience, flexibility, and enjoyment in the Instagram DMs.
What is more, Instagram is developing a “Friend Map” function that is just like Snapchat’s Snap Map. By enabling the users to share their real-time location with selected friends, the app will offer end-to-end encryption to ensure privacy.
