Mercedes Benz and Apple present ‘In-car Spatial Audio’
Mercedes Benz and Apple have come together to present Spatial Audio with Dolby Atmos in selected models. Though this integration does not come inexpensive, it is presumed to deliver an immersive 3D and 4D audio experience.
Mercedes Benz started incorporating Dolby Atmos to its stellar Maybach and S-Class along with electric EQS and EQE models that already include most recent MBUX interface and the 31-speaker Burmester 3D or 4D sound system. This can cost up to an additional amount of about $4550 (3D) or $6730 (4D), excluding the cost of the vehicle of $100,000 and higher.
Oliver Schusser, the Vice President of Apple Music and Beats stated, “Sound quality is very important to Apple Music which is why we are so excited to work with Mercedes Benz to make Spatial Audio. Together with Mercedes, we now have even more opportunities to bring completely immersive music to our subscribers worldwide.”
Further, Markus Schafer, the Mercedes Benz Groups AB’s Chief Technology Officer stated, “Our vehicle will be their first non-Apple devices to feature immersive Spatial Audio with Dolby Atmos which shows how in-car entertainment can reach new levels by integrating hardware and software.”
The Mercedes Benz Maybach limited edition, which was released to its consumers last month, was the first vehicle that included the Spatial Audio feature.
