Valasys conducted a virtual Cybersecurity Awareness Training session for employees as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen security culture and reduce everyday cyber risk across the organization.  The session was opened by Isha Goankar and led by Vaishnavi Chitnis, Associate GRC Analysts at Vulnuris, bringing experience across governance, risk and compliance (GRC) and cyber forensics.

The session focused on practical, real-world threat scenarios and the small daily decisions that often determine whether a cyber incident is prevented or escalates. Topics included phishing awareness and email red flags, social engineering tactics that exploit trust, ransomware fundamentals and the role of tested backups, and core cyber hygiene practices such as strong passwords and multi-factor authentication (MFA).

Vaishnavi also reinforced safe online and workplace practices, including verifying URLs before clicking, installing updates promptly, avoiding unknown USB devices, using secure networks and VPN when working remotely, locking devices when unattended, and reporting suspicious activity to IT and security teams without delay.

The session concluded with an interactive quiz to reinforce key takeaways and help employees translate awareness into everyday habits.

“Cybersecurity is ultimately a people problem before it becomes a technology problem,” said Vaishnavi Chitnis, Associate GRC Analyst at Vulnuris. “Attackers rely on speed, distraction, and trust. The goal of awareness is to build simple verification habits that hold up even on busy days.”

Isha, who opened the session emphasized the importance of treating cybersecurity as a shared responsibility across functions, not a task owned by IT alone.

Valasys will continue to run awareness initiatives to strengthen baseline security behaviors across teams and support a proactive reporting culture that helps reduce exposure to common threats like phishing, social engineering, malware, and ransomware.
